About Us

Somerville Nurseries was founded in 1950 by John Somerville, a forestry graduate with a vision and a legacy to build on. What began with Scotch pine plantings on family-owned land has grown into one of North America’s largest Christmas tree operations, with over 3,000 acres in production near Everett, Ontario. Today, we focus on growing premium Balsam and Fraser Firs, alongside Spruce and Pine varieties, proudly continuing John’s mission: grow the highest quality trees around and always listen to your customers. Seventy-five years later, that philosophy still guides everything we do.

Sustainability at Somerville Nurseries

At Somerville Nurseries, we believe that good land stewardship is essential to the long-term success of our farms. With over 5,000 acres managed as Christmas tree plantations, nursery stock fields, and forestry woodlots, it is important to us that our soil provides for us today, and in the future. From young seedlings to wire-basket landscape trees, we grow natural products that continue to grow and improve the landscapes where they are planted. Our Christmas trees are carefully cultivated, and every tree harvested is replaced with a new planting to ensure the sustainability of future crops. For us, caring for the land is about preserving a family tradition that has been built one tree at a time.
